Wineries and Wine Tasting on the Oregon Coast
Wine on the Oregon Coast: What to Expect

If you’re visiting the beach towns of the Oregon Coast, you may be looking to try some of Oregon’s famous wines. You’ve heard about Oregon wineries, and you want to sample them!
The Oregon coast doesn’t have many wineries, but Oregon wines are still easy to find here! Wine grapes just don’t thrive in the cold, windy climate of the coast. The Oregon coast wineries get most of their grapes from the Willamette Valley wine region on the other side of the Coast Range.
While you won’t find sprawling vineyard estates on the coast, there are several wineries here that have wine tasting rooms.
How to Enjoy Wine on the Oregon Coast
If you’re looking for the traditional tasting flight experience, visit one of the wine tasting rooms up and down the coast.
There are also many wine shops that feature Oregon wines. You can often enjoy a glass of wine there or pick up a bottle to enjoy later.
Most of the restaurants on the coast feature Oregon wines on their wine lists.
And don’t forget the local grocery stores. Several of them have a good selection of local Oregon wines.
Check out the events calendar for the town you’re visiting. Many coastal towns have wine and seafood or wine and art festivals.
Wherever you find your Oregon wines, there is an Oregon wine for every wine taste. From decadent pinot noir to refreshing pinot gris or pinot blanc, to sweet fruit wines, you’ll find a wine (or wines!) you love in Oregon.
Below, you’ll find wineries, tasting rooms, wine bars, restaurants, and shops where you can enjoy Oregon wines, organized by region along the coast. There are plenty of other places on the coast to find Oregon wines that I just haven’t discovered (yet!)
Oregon Coast Wine Guide by Region
In the following list, I’ve noted the wineries and best places to buy Oregon wines near major Oregon Coast towns.
North Coast (Astoria, Seaside, Cannon Beach, Manzanita, Nehalem)
From the historic Astoria downtown to the art galleries of trendy Cannon Beach, to the family-friendly boardwalk of Seaside, the north coast is a hub of activity.
Slow down with a glass of Oregon wine at one of the places below.
Astoria
Enjoy a glass of wine from the long list of Pacific Northwest wines at this riverfront wine bar.
They also have some tasty small plates to enjoy with your wine and frequently feature live music.
Bridgewater Bistro
This full-service restaurant has an extensive Oregon wine list, many available by the glass.
Brisgewater Bistro offers a tasty bistro menu and a view of the Columbia River.
This winery has been open for over 30 years and features unique fruit wines such as chocolate, lemon meringue, and cranberry wine.
Seaside
Buddha Kat wines are made in Tillamook, OR. Try them out in the Seaside tasting room. Reds, whites, port, and fruit wines. The Black Rose is a sweet blend of Pinot Rose and blackberry.
Wine and Beer Haus
This wine shop has a large selection of wine and beer, just like the name says, including beers on tap.
Hop & Vine Bottle Shop and Taproom
Wine by the glass and bottles to go, along with a stunning beer selection. Over 1000 wines to choose from.
Cannon Beach

A wine shop with a tasting room! The Wine Shack features wines from all over the world but specializes in Oregon wines.
Sample Puffin brand wine in the tasting room. (I know I shouldn’t judge a wine by its label, but the Puffin labels are TOO cute!)
Dog-friendly patio.
Tillamook Coast (Manzanita, Nehalem, Tillamook, Pacific City)
This section of the coast has a concentration of wineries and tasting rooms. And of course, Tillamook has famous cheese to go with your wine.
Manzanita
Enjoy a tasting flight, or a glass of wine or beer, while lounging around the fire pit. Order up a charcuterie board or some truffle popcorn.
(And while you’re there, you may as well roast marshmallows for their DIY s’mores kit).
The patio is dog friendly. The winery’s mascot is a black lab named Pinot, who also appears in the logo.
Nehalem
Located in a former creamery building, this is the oldest winery on the coast and one of the oldest wineries in Oregon. They released their first wines in 1974!
Choose from a variety of peach, plum, pear and rhubarb, and blackberry wine. And honey mead.
Enjoy a wine tasting on the large patio with mountain views.
Tillamook

Blue Heron French Cheese Company
The Blue Heron has something for everyone, so this is a great place to take the kids AND enjoy a wine tasting. It’s a gourmet cheese shop (try a sample of their famous brie!), gift shop, delicatessen and wine shop (with tastings of Oregon wines).
The Blue Heron house label wine is made by Eola Hills Winery in Rickreall, Oregon. It’s one of my favorite producers, and the award-winning winemaker is a friend of mine.
Have lunch, shop for unique wine and food gifts, taste a wine flight, and enjoy the petting zoo.
Of course we like the Tillamook Cheese Factory, but we end up spending a lot more time at the less-visited Blue Heron.
They have great cheese, it’s really cute, and…well, wine!
Fred Meyer
Fred Meyer is a grocery and variety store, with a good wine selection, with a wide variety of wines from Oregon. This grocery store doesn’t sound like much of a specialty wine shop, but the wine selection is good.
Pacific City
Twist Wine Company and Basket Case Wines
Basket Case Wines sources their grapes from Washington and Oregon, makes the wine in McMinnville, and sells them in Pacific City.
Espresso Bar and Wine Tasting. A quick walk from the beach, right on Cape Kiwanda Drive.
PC Pour offers tasting flights, wines by the glass, as well as beers and ciders.
Central Oregon Coast (Lincoln City, Depoe Bay, Otter Rock, Newport, Yachats)
Lincoln City
Beachside Spirits at Kenny’s Beachside IGA
Local grocery store with an extensive selection of Oregon wines.
This wine bar features Pacific Northwest wines from smaller producers.
Depoe Bay

Depoe Bay Winery is the sister winery to Nehalem Bay Winery. They offer a wide range of varietals:
White wines (chardonnay, Riesling, gewurztraminer, pinot gris). Bay Blush rose is a refreshing blend of pinot noir and Riesling.
Red wines (pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, Marechal Foch). Harbor Red is a blend of pinot noir and merlot.
Fruit Wines (peach, plum, cranberry, rhubarb, pear). Try the Oregon Blackberry.
Enjoy a wine tasting in the wine cave right across from the sea wall in Depoe Bay.
Tastings are $10 for five selections. The tasting fee is complimentary with the purchase of a bottle of wine.
This oceanfront restaurant has beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean crashing on the rocks, delicious food and an extensive wine list of mostly Oregon wines.
They usually have about 10 Oregon wines available by the glass and many more by the bottle.
If you’re not dining, you can have a glass of wine at the small bar or one of the outside picnic tables (with a magnificent ocean view!)
But you should dine! Tidal Raves is fantastic for a special occasion or just a nice lunch.
Otter Rock

Flying Dutchman Winery
The Flying Dutchman is located in Otter Rock close to the Devil’s Punchbowl State Park. Make it a day of viewing the Devil’s Punchbowl, exploring the tide pools at low tide, clam chowder at Mo’s and wine tasting at the Flying Dutchman.
Head out back to the patio for stunning ocean views. It’s a delightful surprise when you walk through this small tasting room to see the spectacular view of the ocean. The gift shop has cute gifts for the wine lover.

Newport
Local Ocean Seafoods
This restaurant and fish market has an amazing menu with an equally impressive wine list featuring Oregon wines. Try a tasty (and fresh off the fishing boat) seafood meal and a glass of Oregon wine while you enjoy the breathtaking views of Yaquina Bay.
McKay Market

This grocery store has an excellent wine selection. You would never guess from the outside that you’re about to enter a fantastic wine shop. There is a wide selection of Oregon wines as well as wines from around the world. Much of our port collection comes from here.
(They have a tasty selection of bakery treats too). Wine and cannoli? Yes, please!

South Coast (Coos Bay, Bandon, Port Orford, Gold Beach)
Coos Bay
Restaurant O

Bandon
A variety of Oregon and Washington wines.
Inland Wine Day Trips from the Oregon Coast
If you’re interested in Oregon wine country, you may want to travel inland to the fertile wine-growing regions for a day trip. There is a multitude of vineyards and wineries an hour to 90 minutes from the coast in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Explore local wineries on your own or book a wine tasting tour.
Here are a few ideas of where to go for inland wine regions for Oregon wine tasting:
Along the way from Portland
If you are flying into Portland and driving to the coast, you can stop for a wine tasting along the way. Forest Grove has a few lovely wineries. It’s only a few miles out of the way when you’re taking Highway 26 from Portland to Cannon Beach.
Central Coast to Mid Willamette Valley
Lincoln City is a great place to start for a Willamette Valley wine tasting day trip from the coast. A drive of about an hour on Highway 18 takes you to McMinnville, Dayton, and Dundee with an extensive assortment of tasting rooms and wineries.
Exit highway 18 to highway 22 towards Salem to visit Eola Hills Cellars in Rickreall and Eola Hills Legacy Estate. Eola Hills makes some of my favorite wines, from pinot noir to chardonnay.

While the Oregon Coast may not be known for vineyard-covered hillsides, it’s still an excellent place to enjoy Oregon wine. From cozy tasting rooms and wine bars to restaurants with thoughtful wine lists and well-stocked local shops, great Oregon wines are easy to find along the coast.
Pair a glass of pinot noir or pinot gris with fresh seafood, ocean views, and a slower pace, or take a short drive inland to explore the Willamette Valley’s renowned wineries. However you choose to enjoy it, Oregon wine adds another memorable layer to a coastal getaway.
If you’re flying home on Alaska Airlines, don’t forget they’ll let you check a case of Oregon wine for free!
